Reference Terms

Scans: Dependant on the type of cancer the child has, but can be an MRI, MiBG, CT, etc. These are done to see if the cancer has returned, progressed or been destroyed.

Remission/NED: This is good! No cancer is present. Most children will go off treatment after achieving this status, but some may have to continue treatment (i.e. Leukemia, Neuroblastoma). We'll say their scans are clean/clear.

Progression: The cancer has spread.

Stable: The cancer has not decreased or spread.

Relapse: This is when the cancer has returned and a new treatment plan is typically started.
